NHD Project Development

Comes alive in January within the confines of Mr. Haskovec's classroom.

Students receive their packet (rule) and Mr. H's packet in the beginning of December.  From January until February, students research and develop time-lines based on their primary/secondary sources.  Students also prepare critical thinking question answers, as well as, mock interview questions.

NHD Project Open House

After competing at district competition, the 7th and 8th grade display their NHD projects for the community.  More than 300 family members, as well as, community members come to see the type of hard work and effort every student puts into their project.

Choice in projects

One of the best aspects of jumping into NHD, is the opportunity to choose the type of project you want to work on.  Pictured on the left, there are four documentaries ready for viewing at one of our annual open houses.  Typically Hudson 7th and 8th graders represent our school in every project category:  research paper, documentary, website, performance, and exhibit.

Building a curriculum and embracing the memories

NHD has continued to stay ahead of the pace in education reform.  Whatever the standard/objective/assessment is, NHD matches the requirement and incorporates more.  The NHD experience at Hudson is hard to duplicate when covering standard material.  This project encompasses so many vital life long skills, it is hard to put into words.  Students remember NHD and continue to use the skills developed during the project for years to come.
